Major Projects

We define Major Projects as significant building work which requires the client or occupant to move out of the property for us to efficiently undertake the works.

Past Major Projects have included:

  • The complete reconfiguration and refurbishment of existing properties to modern day standards.
  • The building of subterranean or multi story above ground extensions or of ancillary houses many of which we have completed for use as extra guest accommodation, pool, sauna and treatment facilities and even recording studios.
  • The building of new houses.
  • The removal of existing and the installation of new modern Mechanical and Electrical systems including the integration of additional Audio Visual and I.T. services.

In contrast to much of our competition, 800 GROUP has a fully employed team of long serving professionals including architects, quantity surveyors and accountants.  In addition to this we also cover all the basic site trades with permanently employed personnel.

The combination of the two enables us to achieve continuity in our building processes and consistency in our standards of practice and workmanship which we have honed over 30 years.

This has stood us in very good stead and has enabled us to grow on the strength of our reputation alone; providing us with repeat client business and word of mouth introductions.

We can confidently manage our workforce and build costs to ensure accordance with the client’s programme and budget.  We can also work with the client and the client team to efficiently adapt a design and accommodate changes during the building process, a characteristic of the top end market which we have adapted to expect.

We have our own Mechanical & Electrical Department headed up by highly qualified managers with a wealth of experience across all levels of the industry.

This enables us to design, install, commission and maintain all of our mechanical and electrical work in-house.

We use modern materials to achieve space saving installations and creative solutions such as structural glass, cleverly designed and fabricated metalwork and bespoke joinery.

We have consciously limited our in-house expertise where specialist services are better provided by our long term specialist sub contractors.

We will always price test their quotes but because of our relationship and past experience of working with them, we can be sure they will reach the level of workmanship and efficiency we achieve from our own workforce.

And after everything has been completed better than the client had originally envisaged, on time and to an agreed budget, with warranties and guarantees assured, we can be relied upon by the client to provide all the maintenance and aftercare services to ensure the resilience of the finished product is never compromised.
We ensure:

  • That future maintenance requirements are accounted for in every design. Each completed project is followed up with a tailored proposal for ongoing maintenance, and our support and assistance remains in place for as long as our clients require.
  • That we nurture productive relationships with clients, client representatives, specialist subcontractors and suppliers alike; treating all with the same high level of empathy that we commit to the work itself.
  • That we remain progressive in the materials we use and our methods and systems of control, with a particular focus on:

Completing the required works to a continuous uninterrupted programme.

Undertaking regular site reports and inspections, including the taking of photographic records.

Staff wearing company uniforms to make them easily identifiable.

Using the latest Apple communication technology to efficiently manage our work schedules. This makes it possible for us to instantly communicate with the team, to provide accurate and current information to the client, and to deal with issues quickly and efficiently.

Having a clear and easily understood management hierarchy.

Ensuring there is daily support from the full team of administrative staff at the 800 GROUP head office.

Procurement being efficiently managed by a dedicated Project Coordinator, to minimise cost and to ensure procurement keeps pace with progress on site.

The analysis of weekly budgets by contracts and project managers to make sure targets are met.
